Short Term Medical Plans

Short Term MedicalSM Plans are health insurance plans designed to bridge gaps in coverage for individuals and families in times of transition. These short term insurance plans give you the flexibility to drop your coverage at any time without penalty, or apply for another term of coverage. Based on your needs, you can select the length of time (1 to 11 months) and from a range of available deductible amounts. Temporary insurance plans are usually more affordable than traditional individual health coverage.

  • Recent graduate or student no longer eligible under parent's insurance
  • Retired early and waiting for Medicare eligibility
  • Between jobs or temporarily unemployed
  • Waiting for other coverage to begin
Available options:

Short Term MedicalSM Value

  • Costs less than the Copay and Plus plans
  • Deductibles from $1,000 to $10,000 per term; after deductible is met pays 70% of covered expenses up to $16,666, then pays 100% of covered expenses after that

Short Term MedicalSM Copay

  • $50 in-network doctor office visit copay
  • Prescription drug copay coverage
  • Deductibles from $1,000 to $10,000 per term; after deductible is met pays 80% of covered expenses to $20,000, then pays 100% of covered expenses after that
  • $4,000 coinsurance out-of-pocket maximum per term

Short Term MedicalSM Plus

  • Offers more coverage than Value plan
  • Great for those who seek predictable out-of-pocket expenses
  • Deductibles from $1,000 to $10,000 per term; after deductible is met pays 80% of covered expenses to $10,000, then pays 100% of covered expenses after that
  • $2,000 coinsurance out-of-pocket maximum per term
