When should I consider Long Term Care Insurance?

Do you have a plan for who will take care of you as you age? Are you aware of all the costs involved? Waiting too late may cause sticker shock for some. This is why it’s so important to consider Long Term Care Insurance early on.

Long Term Care Insurance covers things like assisted living, hospice care, nursing home care, Alzheimer’s facilities, in-home care and adult day care services. This type of care is not covered by Medicare or Medicaid.

The American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance recommends finding a policy in your mid-50s. This may seem too soon for someone who probably won’t need this type of care until their 70s or 80s but waiting too long can result in higher premiums or being denied coverage.

More than half of people turning 65 today will need some type of long term care. It’s important to have that conversation now to determine how it will be covered. Diane Dee Lee can help not only with Medicare plans but can also help find a long-term care insurance plan that works for you.
